The Playstation 3 consoles (or commonly known as PS3) is a playstation video games console developed by Sony Entertainment, and follows on from its predecessors, Playstation 1 and Playstation 2. History Of Playstation 3 Consoles
The Playstation 3 Consoles was first released on November 11th 2006 in Japan, and this was followed by a release in North America, Taiwan and Hong Kong on November 17th 2006. It was released in Europe in early 2007.
Configurations Of the Playstation Video Games
The Playstation 3 Console was originally available in two forms, the 20 GB Basic model and the 60 GB Premium model. The 20 GB model is still being sold in Japan but is no longer available in America due to lack of consumer demand. As of July 2007, there are three configurations of the PlayStation 3 consoles: a 20 GB model, a 60 GB model, and an 80 GB model. All retail packages include a SIXAXIS controller (a motion controller which reacts to movement), a USB cable, a video audio output cable, an Ethernet cable and a power cable. The main differences between the 20GB and the larger models are that the 20GB model comes with less features; it does not have access to wi-fi and flash memory like its larger models.
Games and Features Of Playstation 3 Consoles
At its North American launches, there were a total of fourteen titles were available for the Playstation 3 Console. At its launch in Europe in 2007 24 titles were available and more are set to be released. In terms of features, some of the main new ones include Bluetooth controllers, Wi-fi internet access, Saxaxis controllers which respond to movement and a memory card adaptor.
Sales and Pricing Of This Playstation 3 Console
The early production costs for the Playstation 3 console models were estimated at US $805.85 for the 20 GB model and US $840.35 for the 60 GB model. When they were released they were priced at $499 and $599. The high manufacturing costs mean that every unit is sold at a loss of approximately $250. Since the original prices were set, they have since fallen further.
Backward Compatibility Of The Playstation Video Games
The Playstation 3 console has been designed with a backward compatibility with the other playstation video games, which basically means that both Playstation 1 and 2 games can play on the Playstation 3 consoles.
