Surprisingly, hybrid cars were around even before gas-powered cars. Back in about the year 1665, a Jesuit priest by the name of Ferdinand Verbeist began plans for a certain type of vehicle. That vehicle would be very simple, nothing complex, or intricate. Simple was all he wanted. So Ferdinand planned out a car that would have four wheels and would run only on steam. It took about fifteen years of work for Ferdinand to go through with his plan. He labored to perfect his dream car. But no one knows if he ever finished because there is no evidence that his concept existed.

This electric car was a highly applauded innovation of its time. However, the only problem was that it was very difficult to recharge the car's battery. Some pioneers came behind Anderson, but they too had a hard time getting the battery to recharge easily.

Now hybrid cars are becoming more and more popular as people understand them more. Hybrid cars in the 21st century saw a boom in sales when the Toyota Prius came out on the market. It was the first hybrid with four doors that was marketed in America.

Two reasons why plug-in hybrid cars may not be as green as you think

Plug-in hybrid cars are better for the environment than regular hybrid cars, they insist. This is because some people believe that hands down electric power is much cleaner than fuel power. People who insist plug-in hybrid cars are better for the environment also say that plug-in hybrid cars don't really need a lot of electricity to power them. They recharge their own batteries. So they don't have to be dependent on other sources of power. The electric sockets are used merely to top off those batteries.

But people who say that plug-in hybrids aren't that good for the environment might say that sure, you don't have to plug it in, but if you don't, you are just depending on gasoline. Then, there's no point of even having the debate about plug-in hybrid cars. And hey, if we are going to go back to using gasoline, how about we just scrap the idea of plug-in hybrid cars in general?

Well, that has a lot to do with price. But no one could predict how much sales have soared in the both the current and past years. Hybrid cars came out in the year 2000. And since then, they have just been selling like hotcakes. But will the soaring sales for hybrid cars continue? That's the question that has many people squinting their eyes and sighing. People just don't know. They aren't sure how hybrid cars will do in the upcoming market.

Although the hovercraft was designed to glide primarily in water, it behaves more like an aircraft vehicle. Its ability to function and operate fully relies so much on the air pressure simulated by its fan. This innovative engineering idea and application is what makes a plan for building a hovercraft works.

This amphibious vehicle can come in many designs. Some of them can carry a greater mass of people or load and usually used for commercial purposes. Other are designed for singular loads. Its purpose is to somewhat trap the air coming from the fan, allowing only a regulated release of air. This concept to manipulate air dynamics creates the cushion required to lift the hovercraft.

- Hovercraft's Thrust and Air Drag – Just like aircrafts and automobiles, your hovercraft should use its applied science on thrust and air drag too. A plan for building a hovercraft should include where to place the propellers for creating the thrust. Windshields or similar installations are required for air drag purposes. Like the fan used for air cushion, the horsepower for your propellers should determine how fast your hovercraft can go. And while at it, the air drag design is considered to reduce the air friction for a smoother sail. Some hovercrafts use one powerful fanning system to support both cushion and thrust.

- Hovercraft's Steering System – Imagine how a horseback rider maneuvers a horse. This principle is similar to how the hovercraft is steered. In your plan for building a hovercraft, you need a system of rudders placed behind the propellers with handlebars to control it. Another method would be to allow weight displacement of your body. The latter can be tricky and requires a lot of practice to perfect your hovercraft gliding experience.
