Sony Nex-C3 is light weight. The body is just 286g. Sony Nex-C3 is so small that users that have large hands may un-intentionally cover part of the screen while holding on to the camera. This causes some problems as the control on the right side of the camera are placed too closed for comfort.

Sony Nex-C3 is only 33mm thick. However, Sony managed to squeeze in a hinged to let the LCD tilt out from the body for easy overhead shots and also for low angle shots. However, the LCD cannot swing out to make composing self-portraits easier. This camera comes with 921,600 dot screens and is one of the sharpest screen displays around.

Sony Nex-C3 has lens that is about the size and weight of a regular DSLR kit lens. It spoils the feel of the overall effect of being "small". But the whole kit including plug-in flash weights only 508g.

Sony Nex-C3 has no built in flash. However, it comes with a tiny plug-in flash weighing 20g or less. This plug-in flash can be connected using a connector and turning a knot. All these adds up just another 1 cm to the height of the camera when folded down.

Sony Nex-C3 comes with a big 16.2 megapixel sensor. It's 22.3mm x 14.9mm APS-C CMOS sensor is as big as those in the DSLR bodies that are twice its size. This sensor delivers high definition ready movies and DSLR standard quality photos. The image noise is fairly well controlled up to as high as ISO 3,200.
